£1,417.00 RAISED FOR THE TSUNAMI VICTIMS
On Sunday 16 th January 2004, the volunteers of the Bilal Academy and its supporters raised £1,417.00 for the victims of the Tsunami. The money was raised by washing over 130 cars. The initial costs was £2.00 per car, however customers were donating £5.00 to £10.00 per wash.
The donors and volunteers varied from all age groups, faiths and cultures. All were willing to have a hand in a worthy cause.
The money has been given to Mufti Shugbeer of Darul Uloom, Bury, and other Ulemah, who will oversee the rehabilitation project in the effected regions in Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India. The money will be used to build houses for the victims.
The Bilal Academy would like to praise the Almighty Allah SWT for making this event possible and a success. The Bilal Academy would also like to thank all the generous donors and the volunteers who gave up their precious time to help us.
